What is teeth whitening at all?

It is a change in the color of the enamel through the whitening of the dentin pigment itself (inner tooth), which turns yellow during life.

It is safe?

Absolutely so. Modern methods are completely safe, but only if they are done by a professional doctor in a professional office. Today, there is a lot of research on the topic of teeth whitening, as this procedure is unique, popular and very commercial (where there is money, there are surveys).

So why are there so many scary stories of sensitivity after teeth whitening?

Some doctors perform whitening immediately because they are afraid that the client will flee to another clinic. The patient often wants everything in a hurry and does not know how to behave before such a procedure. The dentist's goal is to explain to the patient that if he has tartar, it needs to be removed first, otherwise he will feel pain. The same goes for other things. At the Salius surgery, all additional procedures are already included in the price, so you don't have to worry that the final price list will be different from the original one.

What types of bleaching exist?

Modern medicine today recognizes only two ways: Philips ZOOM and Opalescence BOOST. Then the ways, respectively  instruments are divided into office whitening and home whitening, and each depends on the patient himself, the tooth condition and the condition of the enamel.

OK, I want to  Opalescence BOOST. What is it?  procedure?

You need to choose one of the following methods (after consulting our doctor):

a) Surgical whitening. The whitening gel with a concentration of 40% H2O2 is applied to the teeth three times for twenty minutes and penetrates into the dental warp (dentin), in which it then changes the old yellow pigments to white. In the end, it is necessary to hold the gel with an ultraviolet lamp. The procedure takes about two hours, depending on the condition of the teeth.

b) Home bleaching. The procedure consists in whitening teeth with a gel with a lower concentration (urea peroxide 10% or 16%) at home. The patient will therefore receive the gel in special carriers and will perform the procedures himself in the house.

I see another possibility here - Philips ZOOM. How is it different from the previous one?

There are two significant differences. The concentration of active component here contains 6% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) instead of 40%. The second difference is the presence of amorphous calcium phosphate, which reduces the sensitivity of the teeth and the removal of enamel. Filips ZOOM is recommended for people with sensitive teeth.

Home bleaching is also different here, because you will do it day and night. The night gel contains 10% or 16% urea peroxide and is applied to the teeth for 4-6 hours or overnight. The daily gel contains 6% H2O2 and is applied twice  for thirty minutes a day.

The Philipps ZOOM procedure differs from Opalescence in that it will be necessary to perform both office whitening and home whitening.
